Gluten is kind of protein found in wheat, barley. Rye, and oats. It is mostly found in products made from wheat flour, such as bakery, pies and cakes. An increasing number of people, mostly in the Western world, have developed gluten allergy. Ingesting even a speck of gluten by people with the allergy can cause serious intestinal inflammation, flatulence, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, or numbness in limbs.
As Thai rice is gluten-free, it is considered a very good alternative for people having such an allergy.
